Default Cruise Control

Had a yellow box fall out from under dash on my '90 Cherokee. It says AMC and a number. I googled the number and it identified as Cruise Control. I don't need or want to use cruise control (didn't work anyway). I unplugged it and everything seems to run just fine.

I can't figure out where it goes. Can I leave it removed or should I plug it back in and figure out how it mount it? My preference would be to leave it out.

If you don't want it you don't need it. I think that's a pretty expensive part, someone may want it.
