Where is the cruise control components??
This is my first vehicle without cruise control and it is driving me crazy (I do a lot of highway driving). Unfortunately I don't have the cash to get a full factory system and I don't like the aftermarket ones. I do however have access to a junked 2000 with cruise control. Can anyone tell me where all the stuff for the cruise control (servo, module, vacuum lines, speed sensor, etc.) is located so I can get it all. and do I have to remove the steering wheel and run all the wire? I'm new with this midnight mechanic stuff so any help would be greatly appreciated.

What year is yours?

They carry OEM cruise all inclusive control kits at a fairly decent price....
If you go junkyard hunting here's what you need:
*Cruise control servo assembly (servo and attached cable, make sure to take the vacuum hoses as well)
*Clockspring assembly (located behind the steering wheel, the one for cruise systems has an extra wire)
*Left and right cruise control switches ('99-'01 are not interchangeable with '97-'98). You can re-use your old steering wheel.
*Y-cable that goes between the swiches and the clockspring

Good luck ajcanny. Take pics so we can all benefit from your new experience. Post them up when you finish and a short description of what you are doing and what each pic is depicting. Thanks.

I tried doing this same thing (adding stock cruise to a non-stock crusie cherokee)
I have a '99 XJ, I took all the parts I needed:
- servo/cable
- clockspring (and Y cable)
- wheel buttons
But it won't work (or even light up). Am I missing something? A fuse or brake switch or something?
All help would be appreciated! Thanks!
