cruise
Is there an inline fuse for the cruise on an 01 Sport? When I activate the cruise there is NO display light. I looked at the fuse box under the hood and in the cab passenger side and there's none labeled. If it's coupled with something else, it must be the switch, because everything else works.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Are you saying that your cruise control works but you are not getting a light in the instrument cluster?
I haven't had a cruise control light in years but my cruise control works fine.
The instrument cluster contains a Cruise Engaed Indicator Control that is fed cruise control engaged data from the CCD Data Bus. The lamp is fed power from fuse #9 in the Junction Block. If F9 was blown you wouldn't have an instrument cluster.
I take it you have instruments and your CCD Bus is functioning okay, if so, the Cruise Engaged Indicator Control is inop or the Cruise Engaged Indicator lamp is inop.
As for the brake lamp switch: The switch has three contacts in it, one for the brake lamps themselves (normally open), one from the PCM Brake Switch Sense (normally closed) that goes to ground G108, and a contact (normally closed) that comes from the PCM to power the cruise control servo. When the brake pedal is applied the normally open contact closes and the normally closed contacts open.
You can have brake lamps but if the speed control power supply or the brake lamp switch sense contacts is/are bad you may not have cruise control. The Brake Lamp Switch (on the brake pedal arm) has been found by others to be slightly out of adjustment and causing the cruise control to be inop.
Hope this helps.

Neither my cruise control nor my cruise control light function. It seems that everything else on the Jeep works fine.

First, I'll check out my brake lamp switch to see if it's out of adjustment. I suppose that out of adjustment means that when you apply the brakes the pedal doesn't hit on the switch squarely?
The above quote also mentions the speed control power supply might be bad. Where is this found and how do I test it?
Thanks for all the advice!

Don't forget, the cruise control is turned on by the left cruise control (on/off - set) switch. It connects a circuit to/from the PCM to turn the cruise on and set the speed. Unfortunately this circuit goes through the clockspring.

Update on Cruise:
Stupid me.
Since there is not cruise light on the dash, I don't know when it's on or off. I figured out that if I hit the cruise button once after I start the car, the cruise is now on and it sets and functions fine.
Thanks anyway for all the advice
