Hey Wheeler's, This is the first time i have posted a request for help. So I'll try to be clear..

I have a 2001 xj automatic with a n 231 transfer case. Last trip out i took on a bolder and lost. Bent beyond repair the Cross member for the Transfer Case.

Q. What model years will fit as a replacement for my damaged one. (Cross member).
I have been told conflicting info.
A.. only 2000 and 2001 are the same. Due to the transmission .
B. 98 to 2001 (inc 2001) are the same.

So I've come home to my wheelers on CF for ur thoughts.
If u could post links to back up ur thoughts and input. Would save me time just in case it's wrong. I have found A 1998 locally.
Q. Will it work.
Have a trip planned with the family over Thanksgiving...
Thanks again

There is no crossmember for the transfercase. The crossmember goes from unibody rail to unibody rail, holding up the transmission. The piece of metal that cover part of the transfercase that bolts onto the middle of the crossmember, and then onto the driver side unibody rail is the t-case skid plate.

Those are universal fit from what I've read. Find a stock one at a JY or buy an expensive one online.

Thanks for the input. So now I've got Three different inputs.
All XJs are the same
2000 and 2001 are the same
1998 to 2001 are the same.

I've tried to find a link on the www. But no luck. Any links that u can share.
Thanks again

The only difference is any cross member that came from an 89+ with AX15 (5spd manual) will act like a case drop (mounting point for trans is lower).

Other than that they are all the same. I have one from a 95 and 91 sitting around that look exactly like the one from my 99.
