Default crazy speedometer

hey guys my speedometer in my jeep is having some issues, when i accelerate my needle maxes out then will jump back to 0 and move back and forth, then it will go back to the speed im going, or sometimes it will just stay at 0. any thoughts? thanks

I'm going to guess a faulty electronic sending unit or a damaged wire. I'm pretty sure there's a test you can run on the speedo sending unit using a multimeter but you might just have a look at the wiring first. Mine is mechanical so I don't have much experience with the electronic speedos.

Is that the only gauge you've got that's misbehaving?

Yeah it's the only gauge that's acting up I heard there is a speedo sensor but Idk where it's at
