What do I need for a lift?
I know this question has been asked a million times before so please excuse my noobish nature in this as I only have limited funds and I want to make sure I get everything I need.
I have finally saved up enough money for a lift kit, and I am trying to decide on a few. The one I am leaning towards is this one
http://www.xtremeterrain.com/3suspen...-02jeepxj.aspx
I just need to know if this kit contains everything that I need to lift my car. I would love to do 3.5" but unfortunately I have not been able to find one for around that price, so I'll have to settle for 3".
That kit costs close to 300 plus shipping.
This one is a little more
http://www.suspensionconnection.com/...on/438003.html
but I am not sure as to which kit is more complete. I am not trying to go cheap but I'd really like to try and keep it under $400.
I'd also like to know what kind of problems I can expect to run into when lifting the jeep. I am mostly concerned for the death wobble, but I heard it does not happen on XJs as much as it does on the Wranglers.
That is all for now...this is all for a stock 96' Cherokee Country 4x4 btw.

dude... www.roughcountry.com 3" lift for like 250ish or something like that
Yah I checked that out. It's an entry level lift kit, and I don't have a problem with that but I want to make sure it's good quality too. Also, do I need new control arms, because the 250 dollar one doesn't include them.

I run the RC 3 inch kit and i love it. very simple then i cut my wheel wells and im running 33s now. (i recommend doing it) increases axle atriculation and allows you to run the bigger tires.
witht a 3" lift new control arms arent neccessary. It is an "entry level lift kit" because it is easy to install and does not require and other parts not included in the parts list of the actual lift kit itself.

Hm okay, did the entry level kit include the add a leaf hardware for the back or is that separate?
In simpler terms, if I order that entry level kit, there is absolutely nothing else I need to give the car an all around 3" lift?
Also, how do you do on the trails with the 3" lift, did you notice a difference, did you run into any problems during installation, how does the car drive and so forth?
Basic questions I know, but I just want some input

kit included add a leafs. (also helped for towing)
you wont need anything else for your jeep to get in to 3 inches
much more articulation on the trails (more flexing/twisting)
only problems i ran into where on the leafs. took a little pb blaster and a torch but it was nothin i couldnt handle. I also did this when i was 15 (now 17) so its really not that difficult.
oh on road performance was not altered at all. drove the same.
One thing you will notice is the rear will be a little stiff for the first few months untill the leafs get broken in. Nothing to worry about.

Bump for the day
Edit: I forgot to mention yesterday that I will also be putting on 31" tires when the lift kit is installed.

Well you are looking at the RC kit from Extremeterrain. There is no such thing as a COMPLETE lift kit. There is always more you should get or replace at the time of the lift, but May not be required to install or use the lift.
My opinion is if you are spending less than $500 in parts for 3", do a 2" BB and save up some money so you can do the lift you want, CORRECTLY.
Minimum needed for 3" (IMO)
3" coils
3" FULL LENGTH AAL Short AAL springs are much stiffer and cause the springs to sag faster. Never use blocks with stock XJ leafs. New full-pack springs better but $200 more.
Longer shocks
Alignment afterward, Do It Yourself. most shops will not do a complete alignment for an XJ, and even then they will only set it for stock height.
Suggested.
Adjustable Lower Control arms
Adjustable Track-bar
TC drop or SYE kit.
Longer or relocated brake lines, YJ lines are perfect.
Longer or relocated Shackles
New TREs and Ball joints.

How can I tell if what I am getting is a full length add a leaf or not?
