Cranks but no start
I really need help.
I was driving my 94 XJ 4.0 to work and it shut off and I coasted into a parking lot. Towed it home. I determined it was spark and not fuel. I started researching and found the likely problem was the CPS and I had oil leaks I wanted to fix. I pulled the engine and replaced the rear main seal, pan gasket and oil filter o-rings. I degreased and cleaned the block and got it back in. I put a new CPS and when reinstalling the coil noticed a cracked housing so replaced it too.
I got it all backtogether and went to fire it up and no start.
I read here to check relays, grounds and fuses so I did that and found the 30 amp engine control fuse blown. I did not find a whole lot of information on this subject but saw in the chiltons manual that the whole circuit was from the fuse to the auto shutoff relay and to all injectors and to the ECU. I figured easy enough so changed the relay and blew anther fuse. I did a continuity test to all the injector contacts and they checked fine and and checked the contacts to ground and there was no short. I checked the continuity to the ECU connector and ground and it was fine.
The only component left was the ecu. I picked up a known good used one from the local jeep junk yard and installed it expecting success.
It blew another fuse.
I am out of ideas.

Short circuits blow fuses, keep looking, likely why it died in the first place. As well check and clean all the ground connections another circuit could be back feeding.
I was stumped on this issue and pulled the wiring diagram back out and saw that the fuel pump relay is powered by this fuse too. I pulled the fuel pump relay and sprayed ether in it and it started.
I cant believe I missed this I feel dumb. It is the fuel pump.

You found the problem! Not dumb.
