Default Crank, idle, chug, die.

Well, my poor heap gave out last night. It gradually lost power until it could barely pull itself along. If I tried to give it more gas it would choke and die.
The fuel pump has been noisy for a while, but it was definitely still running.
I'll search for a way to check the fuel pressure, is there anything else I should be looking at?
Thank you....

OK, I failed to find a fuel pressure gauge before my curiosity got the better of me. The Jeep cranked this morning and fired up like a champ. I ran it up to normal temp on the gauge and it seemed fine. I didn't want to take it too far away from home, so I didn't keep going until it failed again - but am I right in thinking that the fuel pump is ruled out? or do they go intermittent before they fail completely?
I'm wondering if I should be looking at the CPS...
thanks again

I think this is a fuel pick up issue. My buddy is searching out his fuel pressure gauge. In the meantime I fixed the LPG system and went for a test drive.
Turns out that all is fine downhill and on the flat but she cut out going up hill. I switched to LPG and she fired up and hauled up the hill like a rat up a pipe.
So the fault is on petrol only, and only uphill. The petrol tank on this jeep is not standard but it uses the stock pump/sender unit. I'll still get a gauge on the fuel rail to be sure but I reckon the issue will be unique to this aftermarket tank
Thanks for the help

I've done a test, pressure is fine but it leaks down to about 15 PSI after 24 minutes. I'll have to test again with the Jeep facing uphill but it's raining stair rods right now
