Default Cracked T-Case (NP 231)

Hi all, I got in a "wreck" which just involved me yesterday..jeep was fine cept for a partially dented axle cover, bent shock body(so it won't compress an rides like a horse an buggy), and the main problem is that my T-Case is cracked..now I know it's aluminum but, can I patch it with stick type JB Weld or Quik Steel? or have the crack welded over? or should I get a new housing? take into consideration i'm 16 (very mechanically inclined tho with lots of help from my step dad..were do it urself'ers lol) and it's leaking now I "half" patched it with some quik steel last night to limp it home but, it's still leaking..I can drain it clean the housing really good an re-go over but, what are yalls takes on it and what would yall do? an how hard would it be to swap out the parts from 1 TC to another?

x3 on a new case. That last thing you want to happen is the tcase splitting in half on you while in 4x4

Okay well I got my T-case out today and realized the new one(yes it says its a 231J on the NPG tag) is different, the output shaft is 1 and 3/4" shorter than my stock xj t-case..i'm assuming if I used it it'd be like a slip yoke eliminator kinda..right? but, my main question is that I swiched out the output/tail shaft part and it won't shift and i'm thinking its because of the shifter fork on the inside of the housing(one has a round shaft and the other has a grooved/slotted shaft) is this what would cause it not to shift?
