Yeah, I keep a few sets around. Lots of guitars 🎸, always need some fresh wires. I use a propane torch to heat the string in the corner cuts. Easy peasy. R

 

No need to wire cut it out, I simply kicked mine out from the inside. If it is already broke, no need for finesse with the wire, you aint saving it for reinstall. easy peasy as they say, plus no risk of that wire nicking the paint which them must be repaired to prevent rust. Now if you want to save the glass for reinstall, well then yes, the wire method is way to go, but you got to protect the metal from paint damage. Lay a tarp on the hood to protect its paint when you do this. also some tape over the defogger vents on the dash top will stop broken glass from getting in them.

I must reiterate this, the paint must be maintained, no nicks in it, else risk of rusting, then out comes the glass for another repair.

This is why I suggest you remove the window a few days ahead of the glass install date, so you have time to remove rust and repaint, and allow it to fully cure before glass install.

also there are little plastic clips mounted on the frame these help center the glass and hold the metal trim. these maybe ruined, so have new clips on hand,
