Those things seem sure to crack. I went to the junkyards once looking for a good one for my neices bfs GC and had to look at 7-8 of them before I found one that didn't have a crack in it.

They crack because the head stretches as it heats up. Not because they need a flex pipe...the aftermarket manifold above proves this. It's got two bellows, and the flange is split in the middle...

The link for the exhaust manifold you got is no longer active. Does anyone know the brand so I can get one that's gonna last for my 2001 XJ?

That's the first time I've heard a plausible explanation for what appear to be strange placements of those bellows to a rigid mounting point.

Now it all makes sense........
