You caught me PETE! Just whatever NAPA handed me....before I found you and some other "informative" folx here on Cherokeeforum. I'm ready for a change. What's cheap and good?

I'm slightly confused on this but it would make sence that the firing order is off based on the sound... I have checked it about 10 times but ill check it again ... so #1 should be at 6:00 correct.. because my new dist. And cap say #1 is 5:00... ill take pics

Yeah, yeah ...Here he goes again postin something else,
My 91 has the firing order stamped on the intake manifold.
also, whenever I have replaced the cap and rotor, the cap has a stamped 1 on the top. An it only screws down one way, sooo if your dist is indexed proper in relation to the cam, and your cam sensor is ok, check fire from each of your plug wires, If you got strong spark (blue, intense) then injector check might be next.... another thing, if you dump gas into the throttlebody and it runs until that amount is burnt up, it might be fuel pressure regulator not operating right.
again, my 2 cents........
best o' luck

If you want to check for codes you must crank your engine for two min before some codes will store.
When I got my xj it would not start. It had sat for a long time without a battery so all codes were gone. I could not get any codes to show and was frustrated. So I talked to my friend who is factory trained on these jeeps and he told me to crank the engine for at least two min to get codes to show. So I did and the code for the CPS showed up. I replaced it and she started right up!
Thx-Ace
