Quote: No, they took the zinc out of everything. Fed law via the EPA. The best thing I can tell you to do is run regular oil and substatute 1 quart for a bottle of Lucas oil stabalizer. It's good stuff and adds a lot of protection to the oil.

The diesel oil manufacturers have reduced ZDDP in some cases.. but not completely eliminated it. I have a feeling that trend will continue.. engine designs are improving, so it will be folks like us that still have old design engines that have to continue to find solutions.

Lucas adds no protective elements to oil. It is a viscosity modifier...nothing more.

A clip of a VOA of Lucas Oil Stabilizer....

Lucas Virgin
TBN - 0.1
Visc - 615.3
FP - 435
Calcium - 3
Magnesium - 1
Phosphorus - 4
Zinc - 2

That is expressed in parts per million...
As we can see Lucas offers a whopping 2 parts per million of Zinc.
Ever crappy Penzoil offers around 400 parts per million of Zinc.

It would definitely increase the viscosity of your oil though...
