Rotella is generally respected and recommended. The most common grade is 15w40, but they make a 10w30 and 5w30 "Semi Synthetic". I think they may also have 5 and 10w30 in full synthetic too.

Motorcraft FL-1A is a Full quart filter and will be a direct fit.

Don't forget to add more oil if you increase the oil filter size.

Anf FYI they took the zinc out of the diesel oil too so I don't see the point of using it anymore.

No, they took the zinc out of everything. Fed law via the EPA. The best thing I can tell you to do is run regular oil and substatute 1 quart for a bottle of Lucas oil stabalizer. It's good stuff and adds a lot of protection to the oil.

Nope, Standard motor oil has close to 0ppm zinc (maybe a few hundred PPM) while diesel oil still has around 1000PPM. The oil I plan on using next change has ~1300PPM zinc.

Mobil 1 Diesel still has a high level of zinc/Phosphorus if you like synthetics:

q's and a's...
Ok... not really new to tinkering on cars and trucks but the idea of having a high zinc oil is really new to me... what would that do for the internals?

Zinc is a high pressure additive and prevents cam scuffing.

also helps prevent corrosion. Thats why its still in marine engines.

The diesel oil manufacturers have reduced ZDDP in some cases.. but not completely eliminated it. I have a feeling that trend will continue.. engine designs are improving, so it will be folks like us that still have old design engines that have to continue to find solutions.

Lucas adds no protective elements to oil. It is a viscosity modifier...nothing more.
