Most insurance companies here in FL replace one free windshield a year due to it being a safety concern.

 

yeah that is what i heard when i lived down there a few years ago, might be moving back in the spring though

thanks to everyone that replied, now at least i have a good idea of how much it could be

 

my buddy got a small chip that spread only a few cracks.
he went to get a quote they said 170 installed.
so he decided to leave it be 2 weeks later got a fix it ticket and now hes strugglin to get it done in time..

 

Just had one put in about 2 months ago -$150.00- cash. the guy came to my house and was done in about 45 min or less. i called a few guys and they were all about 180-200 so this 150 was a good deal. this was in NY by the way.

 

Hmmm.....

My XJ had a crack and a birdseye when I bought it. I took it to a chip repair. They drilled and put a plug in to stop the crack from spreading, fixed the birdseye, and fixed a few more small chips for $30. It just passed safety inspection.

I think that in Texas the crack has to impair vision or have both ends at an edge of the glass. JMO.
