Default Cooling system issues 1987 xj advice please.

I have a 1987 cherokee pioneer with the 4.0 and a 5 speed manual I love it. The biggest issue I have is the cooling system it doesn't over heat but it gets hotter than it should. It's the side bottle fill and vent system I have shimed the hood so it sits 1/3 inch higher at the rear and removed the rubber seal to help with air flow but the sealed bottle still over flows. Is there any thing else I can do or should I install a later model radiator?

2 things.

What's "too hot" in your book?

195* is normal.

Always replace the cap on that bottle with a 703-1396 from Napa. That could be your whole issue.

Dang, welcome.. If you couldn't tell by his nearly 20,000 posts, Cruiser knows his stuff and you should at least read his post. Trust me, as a fellow Renix XJ owner, there is some valuable time saving information that will help you keep her running. Cheers!
