Coolant temperature sensor wiring
Hello,
XJ 1987, 2.5i gasoline engine.
I recently bought this car, it stood in the yard for 10 years.
I don’t know the history of the car, but it looks like the engine has been replaced in it. There are a lot of cables loose that I can’t find a place for, but the engine runs smoothly.
However, the coolant temperature sensor cable is missing (red circle).
I don't know where it comes from, I can't find a wire cut in the cable duct.
Where does this wire start from? Following from that side, I might find where it is cut off.
Sorry, i can't upload the images directly. You can find them under the links.

Looks like someone swapped in a later 91+ MPI engine. Or at least the thermostat housing, as the 87 2.5l TBI had the sensor on the side of the block. If there's one on the side of the block, you just have a bonus, unused sensor..

Thanks for your response.
The reason for my question is when I was looking closely at your number 3 engine photos it almost looked like to many spark plug wires leaving the distributor cap.
If that was true you have a 4.0L engine and not a 2.5L engine which would explain why you have so many left over connectors.
