When I shut off the engine I hear hissing near the rad cap. After it quits I can remove the cap and there is no pressure release. Can I assume the cap is bad?
Also, I have a very small leakage near the rad drain. I can't see where it is exactly with out talking down the skid plate. I can get a finger at the drain outlet but don't feel any wet there. Is that area known for rad leaks? Thanks in advance.

Cap is definitely bad replacement is only a few bucks, you might need to do some more investigating on the leak though if you don't feel any coolant there, remember coolant does move along the radiator itself as well as the skid so its very deceptive.

Thanks. The evidence I see is directly below the drain on the skid plate. Wasn't sure if the rads had a leak problem there. Could be higher in the core and showing up there. Drain itself looks dry. Not sure it's worth the trouble to remove and have repaired or fill ever so often. I've put @ 2k on it and it was pretty low. Doesn't look like it has leaked much there. I would assume the bad cap would let moisture out with the leak, maybe most of it was lost there.? Guess I'll keep an eye on it. Had to put my wife in it after my work truck tranny went bad and had to take the new p/u from her and put it to work. Never fails when I put her in my vehicle all the sudden it needs work. (%^)

Well, the leak got much worse the next day and when I removed it found a long @ 3-4" crack in the plastic side between the rad and a/c condenser. I hope to have it fixed tomorrow.

If it's a crack in the plastic radiator tank, I have yet to find a repair method that will last very long.

My radiator had a very small annoying leak, periodically on accelleration it would spirt coolant to my windscreen. It leaked near base also,( I think.)
I used to fill tank up weekly, got to be a real pain, bought a bottle of think it was "k seal"most expensive type in shop, they reckoned that would do it,not the case so i went on auction site and got new one £163-($252)
Peace of mind especially when icy conditions comes into play.
