I was driving down the road and I heard a loud noised under the hood. I thought..there goes the transmission, but when I lifted the hood it was a black plastic hose that was stuck in the fan blade. I think it is an overflow hose to the coolant reservoir but I am not sure. I have a '91 cherokee. I am attaching pics. Does anyone know if this tube is supposed to attach to the reservoir like I am showing in one of the pics. Where is it supposed to run? Thanks in advance.

One end attaches to the bottle, the other end attaches to the nipple below the rad cap. The hose is probably ruined (cut multiple places).....it must have no leaks in order for the coolant recovery system to function correctly.

yeah it attaches like you have it and then it runs to the radiator cap. there should be 3 or 4 small mounts for it so that it doesn't fall into the fan. check it to make sure its still good and then use some zip ties or something to keep it out of the fans way

Fan Shroud...
Looks and sounds like you might be missing one.

If you're running hot at idle, that might be your culprit.

.... It also makes it a lot easier for that Reservoir hose to come into contact with the fan without the large piece of plastic between the two:-)
