Default coolant leak question.

I have a intermittent coolant leak at the front of the engine. It will only leak when off for awhile like a couple off days. It doesn't leak when running and when it leaks it pours like a basket ball size puddle. It doesn't leak all the time when off just once in awhile. When it has shown a leak if I grab the upper hose a couple of time it gushes all over the ground. Start it up and do the same thing nothing?................ Is it probably the seal in the water pump?

your water pump is shot bro. just change it its like 20 bucks and 30 mins.. its dripping out the weap hole when the motor is off thats what they are designed to do to tell you its going bad.

its hard to trace the leak because the water runs down the bottom radiator hose...

You normally re-use the old pipe its threads out. I just had to by one from the Dealer though and it was 20bucks. no the radiator stays in. its super easy, pull of your fan shrouds, belt then hoses, take the thermostat housing off its all right there, youll figure it out, super easy. just DONT over tighten your bolts (meaning strip them)... use RTV on the pump side not block...

good stuff I can tell by looking at it that the tube is real this from rust. I'm going to buy the new one from rockauto tonight cause there's nothing worse than no having the right parts to finish a job.......

Whenever replacing a water pump, it's a good time to review the condition of all cooling system components.

Radiator, all hoses, thermostat, radiator cap, and heater control valve (if equipped).

just did this two days ago. you have to take the power steering pump off because the water pump uses two of the support bolts. the belt can be loosened by reaching under the right bottom of the power steering pump and loosening the horizontal bolt there. after you loosen that bolt loosen the top bolt then the booton center bolts on the power steering pumps mounting bracket. you also have to take the power steering pump out of the bracket to get to the mounting brackets last bolt which is behind the powersteering pump. after that its pretty easy. Good luck!
