Default Converting to leafs in front

Hey guys i am going to swap out my stock axles for some dana 60's,i was thinking about converting the front from coil springs to leafs.does anybody have any experience with this or any helpful info on doing this.i thought it might be easier than dealing with all the control arms and stuff.thanks for the help

short answer: don't do it

Long answer: by the time you are done beefing up the front crossmember and getting the leaf/shackle mounts in there and whatnot you could be wheeling already with a 3/4 link and panhard

pro's of linked suspension:

better approach angle
easier to adjust
stronger (when built right)
better ride
no axle wrap

con's of linked suspension:




pro's of leaf suspension:

seems simple on paper


con's of leaf suspension

axle wrap
more work than you think
crappy approach angle
rough ride
gotta figure out steering through the leafs
potential for bumpsteer

Ok that makes up my mind i was just curiouse about it now that it has been explained to me i realize it would have been more work than i probaly want to do or need to do when everything is already set up for a coil suspension.thanks for the input

Nope thats ok i like my cherokee,the only way i would drive a cj/yj/or scrambler is if somebody gave one to me i would never buy one.i would rather spend my money on another cherokee.
