So I found Pennzoil Platinum 5w30 full synthetic in 5 quart bulk with K&N filter for $29.99 with $10 mail in rebate at Advance Auto Parts. Changed the oil today and the oil pressure gauge runs around 40 to 45 psi at idle and goes up to 55 to 60 psi when driving..... I guess I didn't pay much attention to the pressure previously (have had the truck a week).... is this normal pressure? I read a rule of thumb is 10 psi for every 1000 rpm's.... thoughts/input appreciated...
Thanks.
Thanks.

Yup your idle pressure is just fine. Minimum pressure at hot idle is 13 PSI. Keep in mind that the in-dash gauge isn't terribly accurate, but as long as idle has you near the middle of the gauge, higher when cold, lower when hot, and it goes up with RPM you should be good!
Also holy crap what a deal! It's a wonder more people down there run synthetic if that's how much it costs in America!!! Up here it's closer to $50 for the 5L jug alone. What do you guys pay for conventional? $1/L???

That happens to be a very good sale. Regular prices are higher. One good place to keep up on sales/rebates is here:

Just bought a 2000 Cherokee Limited with 103,000 on the truck and 15K on the reman Jasper engine. The guy I bought it from said he used 5w-30 synthetic.... when I asked him he said it was a myth that you could not change back to conventional. Sooo... right, wrong and if ok, is there a process to move this over?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Truth... but like Mr Reagan once said, Trust but verify.... and even though he was a mechanic, I did a lot of research on-line and spoke with several mechanics around the area... I was going to switch back to conventional oil but at this price the conventional was more!
