Connector load rating (Lighting questions)
I love 12V and usually can find my way around with out any help, but I have two quick questions about lighting and wiring ratings.
Stock fog lamp wiring - I am using it to carry the load of my 6in off road lights mounted on the bumper. I believe these are 55watt bulbs, so a 10 amp load. I used part of the wiring that came with the new fog lamps and connected them BOTH to one leg of the factory fog lamp wiring. I filled the other side OEM plug with RTV to prevent a short. They have been this way for probably 6 months trouble free. My latest issue which you will hear about next has got me thinking I should re-do this wiring job. The aftermarket fogs came with wiring that linked them together in the fashion they are now. Should I worry with this at all?
Auxiliary back up and work laps - the new issue. I have lights on my cargo basket. They are 55watt fog lamps wired to a series of relays, one tripped by the back up lamps and one tripped by a switch located in the cargo area. Both relays are fed by the same circuit on a 10 (or 15, can't remember) amp fuse. Now, I want to install a waterproof connector so I can take the basket off without undoing all the wiring. I found the connector picture below, it is a OEM type fog connector with 18AWG wire on it. Is this safe to use for two 55w lamps? (10amps)
