Start with tightening everythign down, all your bushings and whatnot, think about getting an add a leaf, unless your leaf springs are cracked then it is time to get new ones, for the love of god dont drive around on cracked leafs

Shocks. The sway bar doesn't do crap for up and down movement if both sides are moving in the same direction. The leafs allow the movement and the shocks stabilize it. Get new shocks and call it a day. Have you localized the rattle? It could be the hatch or something else.

I was having this same issue, and it ended up being the bushing on the top of the shock was well... gone.

This kind of issue is commonly caused by shocks not working well... I have the same experience way back then...
