Default Confused

I have a 98 cherokee that has heat without a thermostat. Installed a 195 degree thermostat and now no heat. It runs at the same temp with thermostat as it does without. I don't know what to do now. Can anybody please help me?

It sounds like you have an air lock in the heater hoses...Get the engine up to temp with the rad cap off and the heater on full hot ..Keep adding antifreeze as it circulates through the system.. I had to rev mine and vary the RPMs until the heat started to come through with the last antifreeze change..

You'll need to keep an eye on the antifreeze level... It has a tendency to overflow right after you let off the gas from holding it at a steady RPM so be on the look out for that... I have one of those rad caps with the pressure release lever so I can slap it on there when it wants to overflow then burp it and take it back off.. Some guys will put the jeep on ramps so the radiator is higher than the engine to make it easier to get all the air out..All this needs to happen when the thermostat is hot/open and circulating...Also, you'll need to keep checking your antifreeze level for a few days because any trapped air will come out with the heating/cooling process of the engine...All looks good one day and the next it's down...My durango is really tough to get all the air out and has got me a bunch of times with me thinking it's all good then it's not..The heater acting up it the first indication the antifreeze is low...
