condensor drain/ rust issues
Hi to all; this will be my first post.
This is my second 2 door XJ; the first was an 84 AMC model.
It's a 93 model "country" two door 2X4 with the 4.0...and I think the AX-15? Maybe? It looks a little big to be an AX-15.
At any rate, I bought it for 500 bucks with a bad head gasket!
It's white/tan, and in the interior/exterior is in excellent condition. I pulled the motor and transmission last night, and while under there, I noticed horrible rust under the passenger's side floor board right in the transmission tunnel area- in front of the crossmember. It's lived its whole life in Texas, and vehicles down here don't rust at all.
I did some searching, and come to find out that the rust issue is because there's no drain for the a/c evaporator...is this correct? I was pulling the exhaust when I noticed it. Talk about blowing the winds out of my sails!
If there's no condenser drain, how do I make one? Also; my gameplan was to hit up the wrecking yard, and have one of the clowns there use a torch to cut out a chunk of the floorboard- and I'll make it pretty with a plasma cutter and cut off wheel...and cut out the old section and weld in place. I guess what I'm concerned about is that maybe all the other XJ's will be rusted out as well? What is the correct action to take? Does anyone make weld-in replacements?
Sorry the post is so long, and I'll edit my sig/avatar in the morning. Thanks for the help.

Ya know, I was removing the old flooring from my 1991 XJ today and I also noticed allot of rusted holes in my passenger side floor also next to the tranny hump. maybe I have the same issue going on, would be interested in know what you find out.
I had the same issue with my 1st 95 and I had bought it new. I had pulled up the carpet for some reason and there were the holes,it was about 5yrs old at the time. They were all above where the converter was.It will be interesting what you find out. My 01 has had none of those troubles, converters by then are on the manifold and better drain on the A/C.

While I have no reason not to believe you, there are no tubes on my 95's or 98 like the one on my 01. I bought one of the 95's and the 98 new. The 01's you can see under the A/C drier, the others have always driped out of the front frame rail. The part list you show is from an earlier model,do you have the later year parts list?
