I wanted to know, if anyone knew, if there was a way to check your engine computer. i think mine is bad but would like to make sure before i spend money on one!!!! And if there is not a way to check it would any one out there know where a used one is at?? 1996 cherokee, 4.0L, 5SPEED.

 

First why do you think the computer is bad? What's it doing?

 

Yeah I would think if the computer was bad you would get some kind of a code or there would be some major symptoms. I don't know of a way to really test it off hand other then getting the FSM and find the Ohm and Volt readings needed and state probing with a volt/ohm meter.

 

Pull the codes.

What makes you thinks its bad?

 

My uncle ordered a new computer for his 5.0L Mustang a while back and received one that was bad. The car wouldn't even run with the bad one in it.
