So, 89limited_hero, odgreen, and zak873 have had failures doing this mod and I'm a troll?
But someone wants to perpetuate a mod that is failure prone and could strand people, damage their vehicles, and doesn't feel that's irresponsible? Yeah. Real heroic bud.
Take some responsibility when given facts. What works on your mall crawler isn't gonna work for everyone. Accept it. Find another soap box to stand on and perpetuate false information. Just realize if you do it here, you will be challenged.

You will be challenged by long time users, the guys who help run the site, and even the dude who runs the site. The only reason I don't trash this disaster of a thread so people can see the negatives of doing it.
After 10 trips to my local off road park, 4 sets of all new one mounts, and even a set of Polly mounts I managed to poke holes it every single filter in a case of 25.
I used up 11 on one trip! That's not a good mod. This mod sits in the same category as angry eyes and tinted tail lights. Dumb as **** and actually is worse than the oem design.

I'm thankful people posted up their experiences in this thread about this mod.. If you read through this whole thread you will see the truth.. People who have done this mod and it worked for them only see off road once in a blue moon. Their Jeeps haven't really dropped off a rock ledge landing hard enough on the passenger side to come close to putting a hole in the filter(post82). Nor have they even had the chance to see their Jeep all twisted up on some obstacle to notice how much a Jeep Cherokee uniframe/body really does flex allowing motor to shift/move a little punching holes in a stupid modded oil filter. Hmm makes you think ,that's why they sell uniframe/body stiffeners. Because Jeeps uniframes flex and roll, it does happen.
Just my luck if I did this mod I would be out in the middle of nowhere days away from help on some abandoned Alaska logging/mining trail at 2am when it would go.. Now Im no crazy rock wheeler nor have I had the chance to see my Jeep all twisted on some crazy obstacle. But I know I will someday. I just cant see risking it, or hauling around a case of oil filters when I head out for a wheeling trip when I need as much room as I can get for other stuff..
I don't want to be the guy stranded somewhere shaking my fists to the sky like captain Kirk yelling "Damn you stupid oil filter mod"
If you really want to get rid of it because you are a lazy and dont feel like fixing the little O rings or you have a drug problem and need the few bucks for drugs instead of O rings, go for it I guess. Just make sure you are not shy about telling how this mod failed for you and come back and post up your experiences..
But if I do feel like doing something like this. Im going to relocate with a kit like 89limited is going to do. But for now Im going to stick with my big *** Wix filter in the OEM spot..
Here is a kit if someone wants a better mod for the oil filter..

Thank you guys who posted up and gave real world truth.. Didn't just flex the jeep with a floor Jack in the driveway and say "Yeah it works good, didn't come close to my filter"

I just don't know what to believe anymore. This mod was supposed to gain me 15mpgs, 35hp, 40lbs of torque, get rid if my electrical gremlins and guarantee me a date with this hot Romanian chick at the library.

You want the "I cut my air box and ducting out and put a 3" pleated filter over my exhaust manifold CAI" mod
