I think this is a pretty dumb Idea. Too much work for really NO gain. Just shop around they have some headlights similiar to what your are looking for. I think it was some of the aisian Cherokee stuff.

ah, but the "aisian ckerokee" (beijing cherokee, jeep 2500) headlights are...

1. not readily available...3(ish) month wait just for them to get to the states, unless you want to pay overnight.
2. not useable without a jeep 2500 front clip
3. front clip requires 2500 front fenders, or at the very least modding your 96 and prior fenders to fit.
4. they also require you to swap in a new front bumper.

whereas it appears the commander headlights require you to cut your header, modify mounts for the headlights, and redo the headlight wiring harness.

I don't mean to knock someone's idea. I just see it as a pretty point less mod.

They don't even look that cool anyway. Plus I mean the newer stuff just looks like plastic crap and not trail worthy at all!

Oh ok, got it. I just wanna keep it simple, but definetly something to think about.

You're right it's not trail worthy, but I don't ride my Cherokee on the trails. I use for the day to day commute and I just want it to look cool and modern. I acutally like the way it looks. Trust me. I've seen alot of mods that look like rigs, but the owners like it. Everyone is different.

true everyone is different but, your going to waste the money on expensive headlights and put them on a jeep that is almost ten+ years older and you have to pay for expensive bulbs too. also if you want a modern looking jeep buy a commander, compass, patriot, liberty, or a new jk. just a thought

Thanks xjseth, but I'm really trying to save some money, my xj is paid off. I think it's going to be alot cheaper to buy the headlights rather than buy a brand new ( or even used) jeep. Besides I like my xj and I'm proud of it!

How is the bumper going to fit with those lights. The one that is not a mockup looks like it couldn't even fit a bumper that wasn't made to fit those lights.

Add some Fog lights they look cooler than the Commander Headlights. You can obviously see that it doesn't fit. So it will look jerry rigged if you do get them installed.

It may look good in the pic but they are obviously too big and then you will have the slant on each side. I bet at different angles and what not they look like POO.

well I'm not even sure that pic is real either, but that's why I need to see for myself. I mean, maybe the little part that hangs below the grill line can probably be tucked away behind the bumper? I've read about guys doing alot more magic to accomplish their goal.

You're going to be doing some cutting to get them to fit no matter how you look at it. Go to the dealership and measure them out so you can figure out what you have to do. I wouldn't even bother doing it though. Because if you cut you can't go back and you end up not liking it well then you're SOL.
