Comanche Front Drive Shaft conversion?
I have an 1986 Comanche that has a CV Joint on the front drive shaft @ the transfer case. Does any one know if there is a way to get rid of this drive shaft and change it to a different style. Comanche has a Dana 30 Front axle, a 2.8L Chevy, and a 5 Speed manual Trans. Please help.

um... not seeing the problem here if u are trying to go to a slip yolk design i would not recomend it that is whe we spend hundreds of dollars to convert our rear drive shafts form slip yolk to the u joint on both ends

I cant seem to keep the four bolts on the transfer case tight which causes a terrible racket and eventually the CV joint goes bad.
Could this be a problem with the transfer case?

you must have the "soup can" shafts.
A buddy of mine changed t-cases and the yolk on the front axle to use different shaft I do believe.
Have you tried locktite on the bolts?

take a measurement of the shaft and go to the junkyard and see if the 90's xj shafts are the same length and cup size i haven never owned a comanchee so i dont have any figures off hand or u could try a little bit of medium locktite on the bolts just stay away from the permenant stuff

That is exactlly what it looks like is a "soup can". I have tried lock tite. Do you have a suggestion on what transfer case I should use?

one thing you have to worry bout is the transmission output shaft spline count bc up until sometime in 1989 they were 21 spline on the manual transmissions, and the np231 is 23 spline on most xj applications... someone with more experience may chime in and help you but just food for thought to investigate
