Over the weekend I did some thrashing in watery mud holes. This morning I went to start the jeep for work and it will turn over and run, but instantly stall unless I keep my foot on the gas. After about 1-2 mins of keeping my foot there and warming up a little the problem goes away....
If I let it sit again for a few hours, it does the same thing...but not when it's been warmed up
what could be the problem?? could something be freezing/thawing or what?

Sounds like you may need to do some cleaning in and around your Throttle Body. Idle Speed Motor may be bad or plugged up or your Throttle Position Sensor may be going bad. Sounds like you basically have no choke effect when your motor is cold. The componants I mentioned above are what give you that with your fuel injection system. I hope this helps. There are threads all over online for testing these componants.

When you replaced it everything was ok? Do you think it went bad because of the mud hole or just bc of age? because water was barely touching the bottom of the engine..the TPS is so high and out of the way

Water splashes in more places than you think when you even go through it slowly. If you go faster everything gets wet.

Think water splashing up on the TPS could short it? I did go quickly through a few puddles before getting stuck.. After I fix it will some dielectric waterproof it any better??

Like Blue mentioned, water gets to a lot of places you don't realize when you're splashing around. The faster you go, the more places it goes. You probably got it wet (and they really don't like to get wet at all), and could try taking it off and cleaning it to buy some more time....but I think it may be too late to save it.
