Default Coils Rubbing/Grinding on BumpStops/Spring Perch

I took my rig out again to test out my most recent fender trimmings today, and, the trimming was quite successful, no rubbing! But... A familiar sound was still present which I thought was my tread lugs hitting my fenders, but I discovered that when either side of the front end is extended to the max, my coils (not only are removed from contact at the top) but are severely rubbing on my bumpstops/spring perches, not sure what to call them, but the large tubular peice that comes down through the center of the spring.

Is this something to be concerned about, or is there a way to remedy the problem?

Thanks!

Here are 2 pics. One of the coil spring, and one of the perch. I took these with the jeep sitting flat in the garage so it doesn't illustrate the actual rubbing, but you can see the result.

Damage to Spring:

Damage to Bumpstop/Perch:

It's mostly noise and a worry right now, the damage is very insignificant but I would hate for it to turn into a serious problem!

Oh and BTW, it's doing it on both sides, when the suspension fully extends it brings the axle towards the center (from front to back) of the vehicle, causing the rubbing.

I maybe wrong and I'm sure somebody will correct me. I'd put limiting straps on that axel or fab a bracket to keep those springs in place.

Doesn't sound like a bad idea, but I don't want to hinder my flexibility with straps, I don't have the equipment to be fabbing quite yet, and while holding the spring in place up top would be a good thing, I don't think it would stop the rubbing. I think the bumpstop thing is at an improper angle, which could be corrected by (bending it somehow?) or replacing it with something aftermarket I think.

The problem is caused, as you stated, by the control arms pulling the axle & spring rearward during full flex. Since you're against limiting travel, modifying the bumpstop, doing a dropped LCA mount, or going to a Long-Arm set-up are your only options. The LA set-up will lessen the arc of travel that the axle/spring takes during full flex. JMO

mine does the same thing unfortunately as said before the only true fix is long arms or a dropped LCA mount

Beautifully answered! Thanks! Do you happen to know what the best procedure for modifying the bumpstop would be? Or, if you buy ACOS does that take care of it?

I'll eventually go to a longarm setup, but ya know, $$$$$$$$$$, I'm sure most of us wish we had a lot more of it!
