Default Coil spring spacers

Hi guys,

I know this has probably been beaten to death, but what the hey.

I got some new leafs for the rear (OME HD w/ 2" lift). It looks good, but now the front needs to come up a little. Weathers cold and we have a good day today so I want to address this quickly.

I was thinking about some of the metal twist in coil expanders from Autozone or Advance Auto. They come in sets of 4.

1) anyone know about how much lift from one pair?
2) can I use more than one pair per coil if I need to?
3) any bad things happen from using them?

TIA

Also do I install them in the center of the coil or towards the top or bottom?

DONT use the metal screw in type.....if you want spacers get the poly 2'' ones from from an off road dealer like Rustys or Rough Country or check ebay their hardly ever more than 40.00.I sold a pair on the forum here for 25.00.The screw in type will never stay in place especially offroading. Here ya go.http://rustysoffroad.com/mm5/merchan...ory_Code=COILS

OK They have the poly ones too. So I just jack the front so the coils expand and then how do I get these in between the coils? There will be enough room to slide / slip them in? Again...do I install in the center of the spring or towards the top or bottom

thanks

They rest on top of the coil, you might need to rent some spring compressors to get em in.they basicly replace your stock coil spring isolator

to drop the coils. Jack up the body and let the front axle droop disconnect the shocks and the lower clamp on the bottom of the spring and your there

I think we're talking two different spacers. I'm looking at the little dogbone type that sits in between the coils. Like a twist in, but poly or rubber. I haven't off roaded this truck yet and prolly won't. It's my DD and the most it'd see is the beach.

Obviously the ones you're talking about is the way to go, but I need this now and with as little work as possible.

the twist in spacers have a tendency to fall out while simply driving down the road.....

OK thanks for that info.

So lets assume I still go the twist in route (I'll keep an extra set in the truck). Should I install in the center of the spring or to the top or bottom? And would it be ok to use more than one set?

I'm hoping someone else here has done this (though few would prolly admit it) and can tell me how they did it.

Just a quick question...IF you were to just go with the 2" blocks on the rear and the 2" poly spacers on the front coils can you run your XJ like that with no further modification to anything else?..Thanks
