Default Code Scaner

Does any one have any experience with Actron code scanners? I have been looking at a 9580 scanner to help diagnose some wiring and no start issues. Wanted to see if any one had any input ( good or bad ) about them.

I have two(will go to the garage to get model # if really needed. #1 was purchased new at Autozone, the second used off E-bay. I have had no problems. Both are the same model.

I had the $60 3-button one and used it quite a bit before passing it down to one of my kids who still uses it. It worked fine for reading codes and limited live data, never had any issues with it. There are things it won't read like ABS..

I have an Actron also but need to look up the model. I went a little cheap and mine just reads the code and does not give the description. Need to have the book to look up the description. Spend a few more $ and get the one that gives both.

Based on my experiences I say get it. I have the basic 3 button to read the codes. All I really needed and it stays in the Jeep. Even have my old Actron with the little red flashing light and beeps for my '87 Ranger codes, and it still works perfectly.

I have the Actron Autoscanner Plus CP9580. It reads all codes and gives you the top reported failures and approximate part costs. I bought it on Amazon for $150. Same scanner sells at Advance for $230. Love it!

If you have a smartphone and/or laptop with bluetooth. You can pick up a OBD code reader/scanner from amazon for about 20$. I believe elm-237 is the #. Works great. IF using android phone, I recommend purchasing the full version of Torque, the free one works good also.
