My jeep runs a little rough at idle and at a constant lower speed. The engine light came on and sends code P0104. I've looked it up and it's MAF or VAF A Circuit Intermittent. How it sends a code for a MAF which the jeep doesn't have doesn't make sense to me. Any advise or stories would be greatly appreciated.

 

P0104 is not a Jeep Gas engine OBD II DTC. The '97 Jeep Diesel has a MAF. I'm assuming you have a Gas engine [?]

The closet thing to this type of problem would be P0107 - MAP Sensor voltage low. or P0108 - MAP Sensor voltage high.

Early '97's a show codes by cycling the key trick. If you do this and get 24 or 25, that's P0107 or P0108.

There's a rubber elbow that connects the MAP Sensor to the intake manifold for its vacuum source. Check it to see if it's dislodged or rotted away.

Here's a test of the MAP Sensor, using a digital multimeter and safety pins as back probes.


If the MAP Sensor fails this test I would recommend changing it. A Mopar Map Sensor would be best. Otherwise try NAPA.
