Question Code 36!!

I have a 92 Jeep Cherokee. The check engine light is on and it is giving me 12, 36, 33, 33, 13, 55... what is 36? I don't have a turbo, just the 4.0L i don't have A/C. I know i have vacuum issues. Air switch solenoid, is what i can find for the other meaning for that code but i can find no reference as to what or where is anywhere.

http://www.go.jeep-xj.info/HowtoECUcodes.htm
this is where i got the code information.

thanks
Michael

I can't find any evidence of a 36 for the XJ.

I'd try a different scan tool or code reader and see if you get the same codes.

I understand that you are retrieving the codes using the key-on, key-off technique. Did you try it multiple times to verify the code numbers?

Although they are not as commonly found as OBDII test equipment, it would still be a good idea to find a shop with an actual OBDI code reader and see what that reads for codes from your computer. It may differ than what you are seeing with the key-on, key-off technique.

Yeah you were right about them being different. The on off techniqu is still giving me 36 but the code reader at "Oh Reallys" did give me a code 76 witch is the fuel pump gauge in the tank. it also gave me a code 35 which has to do with a fan sensor but i have a clutch fan soooo......You think that the computer for a 2.5l would still run a 4.0l?...I don't know, it runs and drives fine.
