I've got a '99 5 speed and I'm having a bit of trouble with the transmission. It's getting really tough to shift it into 1st and 2nd while driving, but when stopped it shifts smooth as silk. 3-5 are fine all the time.

I've been reading on the forums about replacing the master and/or slave cylinder, but this doesn't seem to exactly match the issues mentioned before. I haven't seen any leakage and it does have plenty of fluid. Is it the fix as simple as getting new cylinders or could this be something else?

my 95 does the same thing , its the syncros that are worn.

 

I was afraid of that. I'm assuming it's probably cheaper to find a used transmission than to try and replace them?

 

I would just get a JY Tranny for $100-200 b/c reding the tranny will cost lots if you do it right...Tj
