clutch problem
I have a 88 cherokee chief with the ba-10 5 speed transmission. As I let out the clutch in first gear sometimes second it shakes untill I'm compleatly off the clutch. It sounds like it is coming from the transmission. I think the clutch plate might not be tightened down enough. Any info would be nice.

Check the fluid levels in your clutch master cylinder. I would also check for leaks around the transmission. If nothing obvious then I would say you need to remove the trans and replace the clutch. Good Luck!!

I just reaplaced the clutch and hydrolic pump. Nothing is leaking. I got the transmission from a guy on craigslist, he claims it was rebuilt 35000 miles ago. I have only had it in about 900 miles. I had the jeep a week before that went out. In the 2 and a half weeks I've driven it I have fallen in love.

The clutch is only about 2 weeks old. I'm not sure if I tightened down the clutch plate right. I had ALOT of help doing it, and that part i did myself. But if that did come loose, could it cause it to shake while getting off the clutch. I dont think its the transmission, because it goes into gear smooth, doesn't want to pop out, and does fine once in gear.

Did you replace the pilot bearing? If so you could have hurt it and now the hole is way bigger than it should be. Either way I would think the trans needs to be pulled back out.

The trans is getting pulled this week end. And i dont think we replaced that. All I know is i put in a clutch assembly kit, and a new hydrolic pump. What does the pilot baring do, and how can that make it shake during clutch release?

It was just a bolt that had come out around the bell houseing, so the trans dropped down a litte, and the fly wheel was rubbing the starter
