So about 2 weeks ago my Xj's slave cylinder finally went out and ironically at the same time my clutch was completely totalled. So I replace the slave cylinder/throw out bearing, clutch, pressure plate and pilot bearing and all was good for a while. But for the past few days I've been losing all pressure in my pedal, almost like the slave cylinder isn't be reached. I can't shift out of whatever gear I'm in at the time unless I pump the clutch for at least 5 minutes. I don't have any leaks and have bled the system literally 15 times. I'm thinking that it's the master cylinder now because it's full of fluid still so I'm guessing none of its going through. Its a 93 base cherokee, 2.5l, ax5, 2wd, 2dr. Help!

Clutch master is probably taking a dive also. Look inside the cab where the clutch pedal rod attaches to the master cylinder. Is it soaking wet with fluid?

There isn't any leaking anywhere on it, and I just replaced the master cylinder but the problem is still there.

So now you've replaced the master and slave cylinder? Maybe clutch fork.

Possibly. I can't drive farther than 2 miles without losing all pressure, and then I bleed it with pedal and someone else and it works again for another 2 miles. So now literally everything that can be replaced has been with no effect. And there aren't any leaks anywhere.

My bro just took the master cylinder off and checked and everything seems to be okay. But still I could only make it 2 miles before the clutch would lose pressure and that's after bleeding it for 25 minutes straight. We've checked everything and this is becoming stressful as hellllll

Brand new and replaced yesterday. And we've tried vacuum bleeding, gravity, pedal and even using a shops system to bleed it

Shot in the dark. Pump the clutch pedal about 40 times and walk away for 10 minutes. DO NOT BLEED IT> Repeat as needed.

I tried something like that earlier and even threw a bit of dirt at the jeep hoping it would fix itself. Dirt, pixie dust, same thing right? Hah. Anyways I did notice that I wouldn't lose all pressure when driving it if I constantly keep pushing in the clutch while I have the gas slightly pressed. So only if I'm moving down the road. Any ideas?

Actually, yes. Try doing EXACTLY like I suggested and repeat it. It don't work if you do something like it.

Is 93 internal, or external? I'm no real help here except I've been dealing with one of those for 15 years. (on my 84). One thing, if my master leaks it will **** out through the fuse box. (yes, really). Another that got me good was the bleeder nipple was completely clogged. (recently). I couldn't get a pin in it, I just removed it to bleed. Since my slave leaks it only stays primed a few days. (it's non-opped, stored). Even though it's external slave it still leaks from the bell housing.

I swear there is one of these in every "good" thread>> "almost like the slave cylinder isn't be reached." WTF???

Anyway I suppose your bleeder nipple is OK....all else is new...If bleeding it makes it work, solid, I'd wonder if it's somehow getting air, letting up, into the master. I might take it apart and clean it. Maybe a clog not letting fluid in so it sucks air past it's ring? Years ago $165 was the cost.....mine was shot, maybe just cleaning might help yours....

If that should have read, "cylinder can't be reached", I get that!

Lucky, or just good? Anyway I wonder if the bleeder nipple was not tight if it would suck air. Of course it sould leak and fluid would drop.

Okay so I've started doing this and have done it twice now and the pressure seems to still be really low. How many times should I try it?

It's internally located unfortunately which means I have to get to know my xj a little more than I want to at the moment if I ever have to get that slave cylinder out again hah. Working with only a small jack stand with an unlifted jeep that has a sagging suspension to pull a transmission is not the greatest experience. But at least the bolts look okay all the way through! And I learned that I have some natural weight saving techniques on my jeep with all the rust holes. The carpet looks pretty good from under the jeep hah
