Default Clutch master cylinder???

Hey Guys, here's my question. I have a 95 jeep xj, just put in a used ax15 in and everything went great until I drove it home(125 miles from where my is to the shop I was working on it) I was getting off the interstate and the jeep would not go in any gear. Reverse grinds all day. Anyone have any thoughts? I bled the system. Just made it worse. Any help would be great

had a similar issue with my 91 comanche. check your pedals, is the clutch pedal off alignment or bent in any way that would cause the clutch master cylinder push rod to "bend" if so, correct that. if not, check the push rod resovoir cylinder (its right next to the brake cylinder in the upper right corner of the engine bay). if its low on fluid, top it off (use dot 3)

if its not the push rod, then your clutch might've gone out but it wouldnt go out if you still have reverse..... check your tranny fluid levels?

Il be sure to post back, what's weird is my jeep was 2wd when I bought it, I swapped in a ax15 4wd tranny an tcase an everthing bolted up great. The reason for doin the swap was because I thought the 2wd trans was goin out due to the ruff grinding in reverse an jamming into 1st. So my problem just transfered to the new set up. Same problem, so I'm guessing it's not my new found glory of a transimission. I'm thinking of just getting rid of it!!!!

been having the same issue with my 95 country. ive replaced both master and slave cylinders and it helped for the first month or so and has been going downhill since. now 3 months later im back at square one. been bleeding it but it doesnt seem to help. it almost acts like there is a leak somewhere in the system but the whole line and both cylinders are dry. Dont know whats going on or how to fix this so if you get it figured PLEASE post your solution.

I also had this same problem with my 93 Cherokee. I couldn't get in or out of gear, and reverse made a horrible sound, but worked. I replaced the clutch and bearings and that didn't do it, so I replaced the master cylinder...and that didn't do it. I was so frustrated I called a flatbed to take it to the shop. When it came off the truck at the shop, it shifted like it was brand new. The only sense I can make of it was I didn't bleed it correctly and going on/off of the flatbed somehow let out pressure.. very strange.

The master cylinder is higher than the slave cylinder so any trapped air will eventually make it's was back out of the master cylinder. If you let it sit for a day or two and then it works OK, this is what is happening.
