is it possible to swap instrument clusters on a 88 cherokee, I have the stock(stripped cluster, only idiot lights and spedo/gas) with the full cluster(seperate gauges) If so, what wiring/sensors do i need to add?

Very possible. Everything should be there wiring wise.

 

you can do it but you need a cluster from an 85 to 90 because they have a cable for the speedo. im not sure what all you need. i do know you will need a oil sending unit for a gauge but not sure about the rest

 

Swaped my '90 idiot light cluster for a gauge style, I think 87-91 clusters are interchangeable not for sure on exact years, I swaped mine out for a '89. The speedo is cable driven, on later motels its digital, so watch out for that they are not interchangeable. The oil and temp sending units needs to be swapped for gauge style, I got oil sender at autozone and temp at advanced. Be sure to specify with gauges when ordering. It's a easy swap, good luck.

 

Anyone done a 95?

I recently came across a 93 in the JY with guages and I would certainly like to go get it for sure...would make a nice addition as I HATE idiot lights and there is not really a good place to mount gauges inside.

 

Sounds like it should work, just look at the back and see if speedo is cable driven if it's not then you should be good.

 

I swaped mine out on our 96 Cherokee, and you will have to change to oil and temp sensors. Otherwise, if not cable driven speedo, just plug in the new cluster unit. Found my unit on ebay for $28.00.
