Default Clunk when turning the wheel

2000 jeep Cherokee sport, 4.0

Hi Can anyone help me diagnose this clunking issue? It’s on the drivers side. The wheel bearing seem fine. I’ve replaced two tie-rod ends thinking that would fix the issue but it’s still not correct.

It’s when i turn the wheel and I can feel it on the drivers side and feel it in the floor. I just can’t pinpoint it.

Guessing if his were me would check the steering box.
Not the box itself but the bolts holding it in and the triangle spacer in there.

Might want to check the front axle universal joints.

The spacer i think is cast aluminum. Not the greatest and they do crack, allowing the box to shift. You can buy steel from the aftermarket if you need a new one.

Checking parts by hand (without the engine running to run the steering pump) doesnt always do it tho. Parts move a lot more when the engine is running the pump. More force. Have someone turn the wheel as you watch the box, and the rest of the suspension from underneath. Check the steering shaft joint for play as well.

Thank you, I tried uploading a video for more information but couldn’t compress it enough to load.I have verified the bracket is cracked. I don’t have anyone to check for me so I used my cell phone video to watch it. I’m going to replace the steering box as well with this here:

Got an annoying 12 hour drive with this broken bracket then I can order the replacements.
