Clunk
K I have a clunk. I've posted threads and got various answers. Tried them all. Anyone have any more ideas?
Here is what i've got
1992 cherokee
Rubiconexpress 4.5 superflex lift
The track bar is TIGHT!
the suspension works beautifully
The Bilstein shocks are awesome
I recently put on some 33's and the clunk occurs more frequently now.
it clunks when under load hitting a bumb and when turning left under power
It's coming from the front
What the hell could it be, im stumped

From what you've described it sounds like it could be a bad ball joint, loose shock mount, or maybe even a swaybar mount or bushing...???

the shocks are fine, i've tightened them down a ton. Swaybars are new with the kit, i dont think they're the culprit.

A few questions....
1. Does the clunk occur in drive and reverse?
2. Can you list everything you've tried so we don't keep guessing stuff that you've done already?
3. Does this have a lunch box locker in the front?
4. What kind of trackbar is on it?

Mine dose this too and I've ruled it down to my steering box I couldn't make it when stopped till just recently but now I can hear the noise and feel the play in my steering box input and the pitman arm doesn't move at all

Have you checked your upper control arm bushings? (axle ones)
Do you have the extended track bar bracket?
Is it a single loud clunk or numerous clunks?
I" ve had bad ball joints pop, axle joints clunk, trackbar main bolt loosens and need to put blue lock-tite on it. Also had the bolts that hold on the trackbar back off oh so slightly and the whole bracket would jump when turning and accelerating. You could have a bad u-joint or slip spline on the front shaft. You could have too much backlash on the front gears too. (Unlikely but possible) You should have someone sit in it while it's running and turn the wheel back and forth and see if anything on the steering or suspension is loose.
It's easier to know everything you've already checked or replaced and torqued correctly to help you. There are so many parts that can cause clunks. From here, all you can do is throw out ideas. Need a little history on it.

The axles bushings have never been replaced but I think they are solid
No extension on trackbar
It is mostly multiple clunks when accelerating and when off-road. It clunks EASY off road with a little gas but I can coast over gnarly stuff and there's nothing. :S.
Drive shaft is new up front, new in back. Wont clunk while at a stop, I've had a buddy turn the wheel for me, even drive past me off-road and I can't spot it.
