Closed to open cooling system
changed out the old closed radiator w/ an open radiator from a '91 and when i was letting it run i thought things where good... but no when i got to driving it the pressure was buliding up so much i popped a hole in the over flow tank so i went and bought an overflow tank out of a "94 but they all look the same. my question is my football lookin one right now is horizontal (spelling) and the newer one is vertical.. what do i do to get that vertical one to fit?
any advice is ballin'

THe rectangle on is a pressure tank so it wont bleed off pressure. I ended up putting my overflow tank where the windshield washer bottle was, but my rig is strictly off road.

x2,when i swapped mine I changed out the heater control valve to match the 91,cannot use the plastic bottle from the old system. I just removed it and put in place an overflow from a chevy car and ran overflow from the cap to the new bottle.

If you look at the pics in my album it shows exactly how mine is set up. I moved the coil and all the relays from down low on the passenger side and mounted them up higher. Then with a little modifacation to a bracket for an open system pressure bottle it fit right in the factory place. Keeps some of the electrical **** dry to.

I personally took the heatercontrol valve out. I ran hose stright from engine to heater core. Be advised one line is 5/8 the other is 3/4. Also it means you will have hot air almost all the time. Unless you turn on ac. I also carry a hose splice kit.. in case I have a failure.

IT is located on the pasanger side of the engine bay. IT will be approximately 6" off the firewall and have 2 hosses going in and 2 going out. One hose will be 5/8 and the other being 3/4. IT will have one vacumm hose going to it.
