Climate controls and cruise stop working going up hill
Ok, so going up a hill (6.5% grade) with cruise or a/c on, the cruise will slow from 70 down to 50mph and the vents will shut off. When I let my foot off the gas, they all come back and work perfect.
My question is, why would it do this, my 2000 did not and the 98 does not. (the 2000 was wrecked)
Its a 2001 automatic with 132k
Also, not sure if it is related, every so often I get a code for a very small evap leak.

Vacuum!! There is a plastic football shaped ball on the passenger side firewall area. It is a vacuum tank that equalizes the vacuum during acceleration. It has two sides, one for cruise control, and the other for the vacuum actuators that control the dash venting.
Check the condition of the ball and for vacuum leaks in the hoses running to it. If the ball is cracked or damaged, Napa sells them for under $20. Use the GM part number. Same part just easier to find than the chrysler #.
Hope this helps!

My 90 has a line going in both sides from the intake manifold. On one side, there is a small hard line that goes into the fire wall for the vents. On the other side is a line that goes to the cruise actuator. An "In" line on both sides and an "Out" line on both sides. It may be different by models, but I have seen the exact same setup in many different years, both gen1 and gen2.

Unless 2000 and 2001 have electric cruise control setups.

Also, not sure if it is related, every so often I get a code for a very small evap leak.

Build thread there's pics there. The vac ball is on the back of the front bumper on the passenger side. Shake the ball check for internal moisture. Check the "T" connector that comes fr the vac ball and it goes to CC and inside.
Also as for the small evap leak, when was the last time you got a gas cap. I too had an evap leak on my 01, got a mopar OeM cap, stopped the evap clicking and the code

As for the in and out line questions, it only has 1 line that tees off to other things such as cruise and so on. the check valve I am thinking is my problem, I need to wait till monday so i can get a new one (advanced auto does not carry them and the dealer is closed sunday)
