bet ya $100 its the front hubs or ball joints.

You can have a friend drive the truck, BUT BE CAREFUL, Inch by inch, slowly while you are on the side or in front of the vehicle at its turning full capacity. Took me a week to figure it out.

Hubs going out will make a sound like a brake pad grinding or creaking noise, usually when turning sharply, but a severely damaged one will make a terrible noise all the time. Its a pain in the butt, and a lil pricey to do the pair of front hubs, but well worth the peace of mind if this is a trail vehicle..

Ball Joints going out make a creaking, popping, snapping noise at full turns lock to lock. These usually happen because theyre dry and have been wheeled on. Especially with that mileage. My first jeep had 200k miles and stock ball joints, never made a noise once, because they were always maintained. This can be a little pricey as well if they all need to be done, because there are four ball joints and the alignment afterward..

Best of luck.

Default noise in the front end

I have the same problem. I'll get going with the grease gun. When i was under my xj looking around i discovered one of my problems. The bushing on the lower right shock had some how sliped out of the lower shock. When i fix it should i get a new bushing or just push it back in. Seems like there should be some sort of keepers to hold it in. I just put a 4.5 RC lift. Xj

First thing to do is. Check the trackbar frame mount bolts and see if there loose and tighten the heck out of them then check axle side, then balljoints, hubs, axle ujoints, Shocks..
