Nothing Earth shattering about this tidbit, but I thought I would share.....
The headliner on my 99 Sport was in pretty rough shape, compliments of the previous owner and it has been irking me since I purchased it. Finally got some "Me" time and went to town on it. After some reading and some scrounging in our household supplies, I found everything I needed to do the job. I had a bottle of Hoover Deep Cleansing carpet & upholstery detergent and a couple of micro fiber towels. Dilute as per instructions and pour into a spray bottle. Spray lightly into the towel and gently rub in a circular pattern. Don't get the headliner really wet or that will open up another can of worms (read - adhesive could release from the backing). The results were really amazing. Cost for me was $0.00. I've read that Tuff Stuff works well........

Sounds like this worked pretty well for you, thanks for the tip.
I would like to add a word of caution, however. If the underlying foam layer is dry rotting, it may be better to leave it alone, or that will open up yet another can of worms.
But if the foam is rotting that badly, it was probably time to redo the headliner anyway.
