Cleaned NSS, Now won't crank
1997 XJ. 4.0L, Automatic, 111K miles.
My backup lights wouldn't come on, and after searching the forum, I read the that cleaning the neutral safety switch (NSS) would probably repair this. Great instructions and after a bit of sweat and cussing, the lights are on. One of the two terminals was stuck down in the greasy muck, and after cleaning and sanding, I now have lights.
Now for the new problem: It turns over great in park and neutral, but will not fire off. I timidly took off the coil wire and with a screw driver, gronded the wire to the frame while my son turned the ignition. I have NO spark. Checked all the fuses with ohm meter (good), tried a new fuel pump relay (nothing). Changed CPS a few months back as well as plugs and wires.
Any ideas what I have screwed up?????
