CJ Block in my XJ?
I bought a 90 XJ a few months ago at a yard sale ($1200.00!) had some issues, but by and large it was great till the wife drove it without coolant (I had changed the pump, but hadn't filled it yet.....jeez!) so anyway there went the head. I did most of the work myself and did it right, I had never dug in to a mech job like that before, it turned out great....one thing I noticed when all was apart was that the block had CJ stamped on the side. I was curious at the time, but a bit to overwhelmed and under the gun to look into it, or even jot down whatever else may have been stamped there. Everything checked throughout the rebuild, lockstep with Haynes and everything I read here......this is normal? Or is this a replacement block? BTW you guys are awesome, despite yer bickering, what a huge help, thanks so much, I love my XJ!

you might wanna run the casting code on an online decoder or check the build date-here is a link where to find this stuff assuming its a 4.0
