Dayum! I would have thought a 10/96 build date would be a '97 model.

The vin Matches too! I looked it up just to make sure its a legit 96. I think it was "T" for 96 i can't remember.

Resurrecting to ask a related question: What defines a "late production" manufacturing date? I have an 8/96 build date on my 2wd, non-ABS XJ. Do you think that's late enough in the year?

If you think there's a chance, I guess I can get someone to pull the axle to count (can't do it in my complex). If it's a 29-spline, I'm gonna swap that baby with my 4x4's D35 and build it up! The 2wd doesn't need it; the D35 will be fine for it. I can beef up the 4x4 for next to nothing!

No its not. They usually switch model yrs around september. U likely have a 27 spline. Pull your axles qbd count the splines
